TAT awards Dusit Laguna Phuket best hotel in South

General Manager of Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket Peter Komposch receives the 7th Thailand Tourism Award 2008 for best resort hotel in the Southern region from Tourism and Sports Minister Weerasak Kowsurat.

PHUKET: Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket has won the 7th Thailand Tourism Award 2008 from the TAT for being the best hotel in the South with over 80 rooms. Criteria considered by the judges included the level of service, attention to protecting natural resources and the environment, sustaining art and culture, self-sufficiency and corporate social responsibility.

General Manager of Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket Mr Peter Komposch represented the hotel to receive the award from Minister of Tourism and Sports Weerasak Kowsurat.

We not only do our best to maintain our unique five-star standard of services but also better our rooms and facilities, as well as our people, with a view to giving a refreshing experience for all guests, no matter what their journey. This year, we added new spacious two-bedroom Dusit Thani Pool Villas as another alternative for those with luxurious preferences,” said Mr Komposch.

We also take environmental issues seriously. We have a very active Green Leaf Committee, that achieved for us a number of honorable environmental related awards. [These included] environmental friendliness and great effort to run the business with the lowest impact on the environment and least effect on global warming.

This is really a reward for all staff for the great effort they have put in their job, aiming to deliver promising holiday experiences to our guests, and encouraging us to do more,” added Mr Komposch.

Thanpuying Chanat Piyaoui, founder of Dusit International said, “In the early 1900s, King Rama VI of Thailand envisaged a wondrous utopia; a ‘town in heaven’ that he called Dusit Thani. It has been the inspiration for all we do for over 60 years.”

Also gaining top national honors from Phuket was Phuket Sealand Co Ltd, which took the award for excellence in the inbound tour category for its 2,800-baht Trekking & Rafting E-Co Adventure tour.

Phuket FantaSea in Kamala came in first in the list of six outstanding tourist attractions, losing out only to Rose Garden Riverside in Nakhon Pathom, which got the top prize for excellence in this category.

Sukko Spa in Wichit was was listed in the outstanding Day Spa category, second only to the Lanna Oasis Spa in Chiang Mai.
